   NETWORK ARCHITECTURE / INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES

Have you ever had the following thoughts about your company’s computers: Is my network “up to speed”? Do I have the right equipment to support what I’m doing now and what I want to do in the future? Our network seems to be operating very slowly... Where can I get help? Here are a few of the typical services we provide:

Network Assessment and Implementation – We identify strengths and weaknesses within a current network infrastructure (hardware, software, network wiring, communication lines, etc.). We assist management in developing a system architecture to suit current and future needs.

Network Diagramming – This is a visual rendering and text description outlining important details about your entire network. This is an excellent tool for efficiency and assessment. Server information gathered would also include things like age, warranty, operating system, resources, etc. This ties in well with our Business Continuity Planning services because it’s an excellent record of all serial numbers and other important details.

Server Implementations and Upgrades – When it’s time for new equipment, we leverage our strong relationship with Dell. Dell servers have an exceptional up-time life, and their support staff is remarkably knowledgeable and responsive (which is critical in the event of a downed server).

Sample list of some items we carefully look at within a network...

Server: How old is it? How much drive space is available? Is the system utilization very high by usage/users? Operating System (OS): Are the proper patches applied? Can the OS be upgraded to run smoother? Is the current OS suiting the current and future needs of your company?

Network Wiring: Is the network wiring up to date? Are you using older wiring but newer technology, so you are not realizing the full benefit of the newer equipment?

Switches/Hubs: Do you have several hubs hooked into one another? Are you using older switches with new wiring or new computers with fast network cards? Security: Have you cross-referenced the “number of users” list with your personnel list to ensure that only current employees are users? Do you require regular password updates? Have you ensured that all people must have passwords?

Internet Connectivity: Have you assessed your bandwidth usage/needs lately? Is your e-mail system up to speed? Would you benefit from having your own Microsoft Exchange Server installed?
